Calypso and the Split Panel Card

One of my Rockin' heART team members, Darlene Smyly, taught us how to create a Split Panel card at a recent class. It was so much fun!!

Here is a 4 1/4" x 11" top folding White Daisy card. Fold the card from the top in half at 5 1/2", you can score first before you fold.

Place the fold line on the 2" mark on your trimmer and cut. This will leave you with the 2" x 4 1/4" panel for the top of the split panel.

Take the leftover piece, 3 1/2" x 4 1/4", and cut 2" from the 3 1/2" side.  This will leave you with a 2" x 4 1/4" for the  bottom panel.

The remaining 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece may be used for the sentiment piece which will attach the top and bottom panels, which is what I did. I stamped one of the flamingos from the Tickled Pink (C1651) stamp set

I cut a Black cardstock mat for it at 4 1/2" x 1 3/4".

To dress up the card, I cut panels from Calypso (X7210B) pattern paper, my rule of thumb is to cut the pieces 1/4" smaller than the piece they are being attached to - the top and bottom panels are 2" x 4 1/4" which would make the pattern paper pieces 1 3/4" x 4". Cut two, one for the top and one for the bottom.  I matted the pattern paper with Black cardstock. I cut these mats 1/8" (1 7/8" x 4 1/8") larger to create a smaller mat.

Once you are ready to put the card back together, attach all pattern papers to the panels.  Fold the top front piece down, place the 2" bottom piece at the bottom of the closed card. Attach the completed sentiment panel by putting adhesive at the top and bottom and placing it in place.

To add a little stability, I attached another piece of Black cardstock cut the same size as the sentiment mat and attached to the inside of the card.

And don't forget to stamp a sentiment in the open panel section.

It is so easy to create a Split Panel using our AWESOME Cut Above Jubilee card kit cards!!

The panel is attached using the White Daisy circle and Black, mat, which are part of the card kit. How much fun is it to create something different from our kits?
